About Us

Over the years since its establishment in September 2019, Kalem International Schools (KIS) has proven itself as one of the best in north western region of Nigeria. By the year 2020 Kalem was selected as the best school in Zamfara state Ministry of Education and since then it has maintained its position. We are a co–educational school that operate Nursery, Primary and Secondary sections.

Our Curriculum
Our curriculum is a blend of British and Nigerian curricula which appreciates Nigerian and West African standards of education whilst preparing our children to be global citizens through a British National Curriculum that permeates all sections. This ensures that our learners get the best of both worlds. They are prepared to be Nigerians as well as global citizens who are well attuned to life in the 21st century and beyond.
In our secondary section we prepare our students for national and international exams including BECE, NECO, WAEC, Checkpoint and IGCSE.
Our curriculum gives the opportunity for your child (ren) to excel and qualify for any exam and/or school in the world.
Our curriculum is also supported by a range of extra-curricular activities which enrich, enhance and extend learning beyond the classroom with a strong focus on both academics and sports.

We are partners with a range of international organizations and exam boards including WAEC, the British Council and Cambridge International Exams.
Facilities
Kalem International Schools (KIS) boasts of state-of-the-art facilities and a learning environment designed to ensure the smooth transition into Nigerian or foreign higher educational institutions. These include well equipped, air conditioned classrooms; a well-resourced E-library, modern Science Labs; an ICT Suite with access to interactive whiteboards and the latest technology, laptops for students; a modern cafeteria; a multipurpose hall; outdoor football pitch and tennis courts; and ample school grounds for our extensive programmes of outdoor learning activities.
Staffing
Our staff are drawn from a range of fields and reflect a diversity of backgrounds with international experience and qualifications. All teachers have professional teaching qualifications and amongst our staff we have gifted and talented professionals with master’s degrees and doctorates.
Our teachers guide the students through an integrated, continuous professional development is the key to our high standards of provision and our forward-looking outlook with teachers who have been awarded professional certificates by the teachers registration council (TRC).

As a school we have effective partnerships with parents who are seen as co-educators in their children’s educational journey. Application forms cost N5,000 each and can be purchased from the Front Desk Office of International Schools or downloaded from our website. Application form will only be sold to parents whose child meets the age requirement.

- Nursery (1) 3 Years of age.
- Nursery (2) 4 Years of age.
All applicants at this level will be required to come into school for assessment which last for two hours of school.
Application forms cost N5,000 each and can be purchased from the Front Desk Office of Kalem International School or downloaded from our website. Application form will only be sold to parents whose child meets the age requirement.

All applicants will be required to sit the School’s Entrance Exam which lasts for 3 hours. English and Mathematics are the subjects tested based on the class which the child is seeking admission into.
Entrance exams are scheduled for June, July and August in Gusau, Zamfara state. Additional testing sessions are offered at a later date subject to availability of space.
Candidates should come along with writing materials, mathematical sets. Calculator is not acceptable for this stage. Students are expected to perform well.
The School reserves the right NOT to admit a child even if he/she has passed the Entrance exams.

All applicants will be required to sit the School’s Entrance Exam which lasts for 1 hour 30 minutes. English and Mathematics are the subjects tested based on the class which the child is seeking admission into. Entrance exams are scheduled for July, August and September in Gusau. Additional testing sessions are offered at a later date subject to availability of space.
Candidates should come along with writing materials, mathematical sets. Calculator is not acceptable for this stage. Students are expected to perform well. KALEM reserves the right NOT to admit a child even if he/she has passed the Entrance exams.
COMPLETING APPLICATION FORM
For the purpose of proper documentation and effective record keeping, it is important that you fill in the application form completely and correctly. The form should be completed by the parent or guardian and duly signed and NOT by the child.
Please state your child’s or ward’s name and surname as you want them to appear on all his or her school records. The names supplied follow the child all through his/her stay at Kalem International Schools and appears on his/her reports and certificates. Except on special request to have your child’s full name on our termly reports, only your Child’s Surname and First name will appear.
Ensure that the phone number and e-mail address given is active to facilitate communication.
Attach two recent passport-sized photograph, photocopies of immediate past academic records, birth certificate. If your child is transferring to Kalem International Schools from another School, please attach the Transfer Certificate and character testimonial from the Head of School of that school to the application. The duly completed application form should be returned to the school’s Admissions /Registry office located at the first floor of school building. The Admissions Office will thereafter advise you of the dates available to sit our Entrance exam.
